DR LOW CHIAN YONG

Dr Low graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Medicine in 2000. He was trained in internal medicine and obtained membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2005. He became a fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore in 2008 after completing his advanced specialist training in infectious diseases at the Singapore General Hospital. In 2010/11, Dr Low pursued further sub-specialty training in transplant infectious diseases at the Toronto General Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital in Canada.

Prior to starting his private practice in 2013, Dr Low was a consultant infectious disease physician at the Singapore General Hospital. He was also adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore, senior clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine NUS, clinical core faculty member of the SingHealth Internal Medicine Residency Programme and physician faculty of the SingHealth Infectious Disease Residency Programme. He was the vice-chairman of the Chapter of Infectious Diseases, College of Physicians, Academy of Medicine Singapore (2011-13), honorary secretary of the Society of Infectious Diseases (Singapore) (2007-8) and designated Health Officer, Ministry of Health, Singapore (2011-13). He is currently a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA), HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA), International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM) and American Society of Transplantation (AST). He is also a lifetime member of the Society of Infectious Diseases (Singapore) and Society of Transplantation (Singapore).

Dr Low is well versed in internal medicine and infectious diseases and in particular, infections in immunocompromised hosts, such as transplant recipients of the bone marrow or solid-organs and patients with hemato-oncologic malignancies. He has published papers in peer-reviewed journals in these areas. He is also an accredited certificate issuer of the Lasting Powers of Attorney under the Office of Public Guardian.

Dr Low is well liked by his patients as evidenced by the Excellent Service Awards (EXSA) from SPRING Singapore. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Hokkien.
